Academic Excellence

The College is co-educational and offers an all-round education that is a blend of the best of modern approaches and the tried and tested methods.
The tenets of the Foundation Phase curriculum are outcomes based, geared towards ensuring that each child achieves his/her full potential with a comprehensive grasp of the fundamental educational skills and concepts.
These skills and concepts are introduced and reinforced through three learning areas, namely Literacy, Numeracy and Life Skills. All learning areas are theme based. This promotes an understanding of both the theme and the concepts covered and allows for extension and remediation, all within the classroom environment.
The Intermediate Phase pupils acquire a variety of skills, knowledge of concepts and familiarity with processes in all the stated Learning Areas. Education takes place in a nurturing environment, thus the classes are small. Pupils are encouraged to achieve their full potential.
In all phases of the College pupils engage in the most modern developments in education. Design and Technology is taught in all grades. The Computer Rooms are well equipped to encourage pupils to develop computer skills.
In addition, pupils are given the opportunity to do Hotelkeeping and Catering in the High School. Their expertise is then put to the test in our Restaurant which is situated on our campus.
The final matriculation examination is written under the auspices of the Gauteng Education Examinations Board.

Spiritual Development

While the religious orientation of the College is Catholic in nature and form, the overall aim of the College is to assist all pupils, irrespective of persuasion or denomination to develop and strengthen their own unique, personal relationship with God.
This is done through regular prayer, frequent Masses and an emphasis on brotherly love and Christian charity. Parent participation at all College religious ceremonies is welcomed. Our Edmund Rice Society affords pupils the opportunity to design and run their own social upliftment programmes.
The College has the services of a full-time Chaplain who is available not only for corporate worship and formal lessons but also for individual discussions and counselling with pupils and parents.
The College has its own First Holy Communion and Confirmation classes. The Grade 12 and Grade 7 Valedictory ceremonies are an integral part of appropriate religious celebrations.

Developing the Child

Every parent wants to know that while their child is at school he/she will be well cared for and stimulated. At the College attention is paid to the all round development of each child.
We provide small classes in which the emotional and academic progress of each child can be monitored.
Each child is encouraged to take part in the broad curriculum and co-curriculum aspects of the College.
Every child has the opportunity to develop his/her leadership skills both within the context of the normal school day, as well as on numerous excursions that the College arranges to outside destinations.

Sporting Excellence

The College offers a wide range of sporting activities for both the boys and the girls. Participation in at least one sporting and cultural activity per term is encouraged for all pupils.
A number of pupils obtain provincial colours in various sports each year with a number gaining selection to Southern African CBC sides. These teams are selected at the conclusion of the various CBC sports festivals. These events are unique to the CBC family of schools.
Summer Sports: Cricket,Swimming, Tennis and Squash
Winter Sports: Hockey, Soccer, Netball and Wall Climbing.
