Dear Parents

Next week the seniors begin writing their midyear exams which just indicates how short this term has really been.  It seems as though we haven’t even got started and here we are heading towards the end of term.  The end of term also means, of course, that the relevant Parent Evenings are about to once again take place.  Please note that the High School parents will only be collecting their reports after the holidays.  Please use this opportunity to communicate with the teachers.

As indicated last week, we will be giving out information regarding “holiday activities” that have been organised, but please note we do not endorse any of them.  I would like to remind you that on the last day of school, Wednesday 9th June, school will end at 12:00 and staff will not be on duty after that which means that parents need to make arrangements to have their children picked up early.  Thank you for your co-operation in this regard.

A reminder to all who come through the traffic lights at Cussonia Street to please keep your bags out of sight as it is a prime target for smash-and-grab incidents.  There are also reports of rocks being thrown off the highway bridge.  Be careful when you are driving to the College.

Applications for the College for next year are open and interviews are underway.  We are particularly concerned about “Little Mount”.  A number of our current pupils have got siblings who are ready for this section and parents have shown an interest, but have not yet applied.  In the meantime we have other applicants that we wish to process.  Please ensure that if you want a place for next year in either Grade RR or RRR that you get the application forms in as soon as possible. The same is also true for Grade 1 and Grade 8.

Thank you to everyone for the response to the Raffle for this year.  It has once again produced almost exactly the same target that was set last year.  This, in addition to our earlier fund raiser and the difficult times people are experiencing, is truly heartening.  The final figures are not yet available but we have raised about R25 000.  Thanks to everyone for making the effort.

On the MySchool Card front, just to let parents know that this past week saw us rise about 20 places on the “Play-it-forward” list so keep using that card.

Once more parents are reminded about school fees for June and July.  Please do not forget to pay these two months on time.  Even though the College is on holiday our expenses are not.

We have an outreach project being led by the Grade 10 Confirmation class – they are collecting for Sizanani out in Bronkhorstspruit.  The aim of the project is to collect 100 “fleecy blankets”, so that each child in the home has their own little blanket.  This collection started on Sunday in Mass and so far we have 40 blankets.  We are asking the children for either a donation of a “fleecy blanket” or money towards one. We would like to thank our generous community in anticipation.

“Every time you listen with great attentiveness to the voice that calls you Beloved, you will discover within yourself a desire to hear that voice longer and more deeply” – Henri Nouwen

God Bless
